At 2 Shirts Ministry, we have the privilege of supporting Angela and Amber, two local missionaries whose heart for the unhoused has led them to build relationships, meet practical needs, and bring hope to people living on the margins.
Angela and Amber regularly deliver meals to the unhoused in Lincolnton and Gastonia who cannot make it to the local soup kitchen due to transportation challenges, health issues, or other circumstances. Like our Savior, their ministry reaches people where they are and ensures that those who might otherwise be overlooked are not forgotten.
Over the past several months, 2 Shirts Ministry has been blessed to support their efforts in a variety of ways. Together, we’ve helped provide new socks, one of the most requested items among those experiencing homelessness. Last month, we were also able to provide to-go containers, disposable forks, napkins, and Ziploc bags, helping Angela and Amber continue their meal delivery ministry to individuals in need.
Now, we’re excited to work with them to assemble and distribute Care Kits for unhoused neighbors throughout our community.
What Are Care Kits?
Care Kits are packages filled with practical items that help meet immediate needs while also providing encouragement and dignity. At 2 Shirts Ministry, Care Kits often include hygiene supplies, food items, hydration resources, weather-protection products, and a handwritten Care Card with words of encouragement. These kits are intended to help individuals facing homelessness or hardship while reminding them that they are seen, valued, and loved.
Items commonly included in Care Kits may include:

- Toothpaste
- Deodorant
- Tissues
- Bottled water
- Granola bars
- Sunscreen
- Bug repellent
- Rain ponchos

Summer Needs Are Growing
The summer heat can be especially difficult for those living outdoors. Access to water, protection from the sun, and basic hygiene items can make a tremendous difference in someone’s daily life.
Right now, some of the most needed items include:

- Other hygiene and comfort items

Ministry happens in many different ways. Sometimes it’s serving a hot meal. Sometimes it’s handing someone a pair of clean socks. Sometimes it’s delivering a meal to someone who has no way to travel.
