Preparing Garments for a New Purpose
One of the most unique aspects of our work involves decommissioning branded apparel.
Many donated items arrive with company logos, embroidered emblems, employee identifiers, or promotional branding. Before these garments can be redistributed, those elements often need to be removed.
This process requires patience and care.
Some logos are heat-transferred and can be removed relatively cleanly. Others are embroidered directly into the fabric and leave behind stitching marks or visible outlines when removed.
Rather than discarding these items, our volunteers work to restore their appearance whenever possible. Through creative repairs, replacement patches, and other renewal techniques, many garments can be prepared for a completely new chapter.
The Human Impact
